On behalf of the Atmore Memorial organizing committee I would like to thank all of you for making the 32nd Annual Atmore Memorial an overwhelming success!
Once again Team Duluth demonstrated how to put on a first class race. There are so many facets to planning and staging this race that make the Atmore Memorial the premier event in the USSA Central Division. Here are a few:
We have to have a ski area that is working in concert with us, and motivated to make our event successful. We have Spirit Mountain with Renee Appel-Mattson and Denny Monson giving us support and facilitating our efforts.
Securing hotel rooms for Administrators, TD and Pace Team, we start this process in the spring/summer when the FIS schedule is announced.
Planning hill set-up for the race, b-net, starts, finish and start wiring, launch pads, grooming plans.
Renting PA, Porta Potties and scheduling a room for the race office.
Volunteers start in the fall and as the race approaches soliciting donations of food, water, lodging.
We have to compile a list of volunteers willing to work the actual race and assign them to a host of positions.
A schedule of events needs to be posted and communicated to the Central Division of USSA and beyond. A brochure of the schedule needs to be created, printed and distributed.
As the race approaches we plan meals to feed the workers and coaches. These meals are made the evening before the race and delivered to Spirit and then further, distributed on the race venue.
Banners need to be hung, the chalet and race office need to be set-up and the check-in area needs to be prepared for the competitors and volunteers.
When the competitors get to town they register for the race in the Bear Paw Chalet. A group of volunteers organizes this process and ensures that all competitors are registered properly and have purchased a ticket.
The Atmore Memorial is famous for it's cocktail party held in conjunction with the Team Captains Meeting which takes place before Sunday's race. Volunteers coordinate this effort and current members and alumni bring an hors d'oeuvre to complete a phenominal festive atmosphere.
As you can see it takes a huge effort by many people to make this race what it is. It's huge, it's the best, and it's the best because of the volunteers from Team Duluth!
Being part of the Atmore is rewarding and a lot of fun combined with a bit of stress. It's a great feeling to be a part of this enormously successful event.
Lastly, or firstly, but probably somwhere in the middle, are a host of community businesses who donate their products and services. I will ask, again, one of our volunteers to provide a list of sponsors to be posted in the Team Room.
Thank you all for being a part of the 32nd Atmore Memorial FIS Slalom!

Special thanks to "some" who chaired committees: I'm sure I will miss some names. Please accept my apologies in advance.
